2001年9月といえば、「9.11」という大事件が起きた時期。
ラジニカーントはその頃、どうしていたでしょうか…？

Rajnikanth who was trapped in New York is now back in Chennai as his legion of fans heaved a sigh of relief. But as usual in Chennai, he is keeping a low profile. The buzz is that he cannot further delay his next project as Ajith and Vijay are wooing the younger generation of fans.
Rajni is still to zero in on his new project, as he feels it should have mass appeal. Before he left for New York there was talk making the rounds that he may remake Lagaan, which he saw two times and called Aamir Khan to congratulate him.
Now the flavour of the week seems to be Mohan Lal’s Ravana Prabhu, which Rajni feels is an ideal vehicle which would please his fans – a double role as father and son with punch line dialogues. Rajni had also a meeting with his current favourite director K.S.Ravikumar and they are working out the logistics of his new film for April 14, 2002 release.
【ラジニはチェンナイに戻った】
ニューヨークで足止めされていたラジニカーントは、チェンナイに無事戻り、多くのファンがほっとしている。だけど、チェンナイではいつものように、彼はあまり積極的ではない。
アジットやヴィジャイが若い世代のファンに支持されているから、（若者に負けじと？）ラジニの新作が大幅に遅れることはないだろうという噂がある。新作については依然として何も語っていないけれども、ラジニはそれを大いにアピールしなければならないと感じているだろう。
ラジニは『Lagaan』を2度観ており、アーミル・カーンに電話してお祝いを述べているので、ニューヨークを発つ前には、『Lagaan』をリメイクするのではないかという話があった。
しかし、目下のところ、モーハン・ラ－ルの『Ravana Prabhu』がファンを満足させるにはうってつけの作品ではないかと、ラジニは思っている。迫力のある会話があって、父と子の二役を演じることができるからだ。
ラジニは現在お気に入りの監督K.S.ラヴィクマールと会っており、彼らは2002年4月14日に新作をリリースするという計画を考えている。

When the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York collapsed, there was panic among Rajnikanth fans. Rajni was holidaying in New York for the last one month and his favourite past time was walking through the streets of Manhattan. On hearing about the attack on America, wife Lata rang him up. She was relieved to know that our ‘Thalaivar’ was safe in a friend’s house. Rajni through his wife has assured his fans of his safety.
He would be taking the first available flight back to Chennai, when commercial flights from US resume. Meanwhile Kodambakkam film circles are abuzz with rumours that Rajni would announce his next film on Vijayadasami day (October 26).

ニューヨークの２つの世界貿易センタービルが崩壊したとき、ラジニカーント・ファンの間にパニックが起こった。ラジニはこの１ヶ月、ニューヨークで休暇を過ごしており、彼はマンハッタンの通りをぶらぶらするのが好きだったからだ。
アメリカが攻撃されたと聞き、ラター夫人は彼に電話した。ラジニが友人の家にいて無事だったことを知り、ラタ夫人はほっとした。ラジニは彼女を通じて自分が無事であることをファンに伝えた。
アメリカからのフライトが再開されれば、ラジニは最初のフライトでチェンナイに戻るだろう。
ところで、コーダムバッカムの映画界では、10月26日のVijayadasami dayに、ラジニが次の映画について発表するのではないかという噂でもちきりである。
2001.Sep.7 Rajnikant on a tour Screen
Rajnikant has left on a 40-day tour of USA and Germany and is expected back only by November. He is expected to finalise his next film on his return.
It’s been two years since he has acted in a film.

ラジニカーントはアメリカ、ドイツの40日の旅行に出かけたが、11月までには戻るだろう。彼が戻ってきたら映画の完成が期待される。もう2年も出演していないのだから。
